The Keeper of Flow Time

Though her pin-up pose might deceive you into thinking that she is merely a cutie pie, this mermaid has a big job to do. She is the keeper of flow time - the kind of time that, unlike clock time, is experienced in waves and currents and is happening all the time at different depths around and below us. Though the creatures of the depths might threaten to dislodge her from her perch, she is unfazed, knowing that the treasure of flow time is eternal and has no end.

On a more material note - this mermaid salt shaker was separated from her pepper-mate almost 30 years ago and I’ve been carrying her around ever since, not sure whether she was carrying too many personal memories to use in an art piece. Finally, this year, she seemed ready to make her way into a new life, a new role, and a new home. Farewell little mermaid - there’s a lot of water under the bridge!
